lyrics

How can I be all of the different parts of me

They’re pulling at strings

Unraveling fragments I can’t see

When I close my eyes

I’m standing beside a childhood street

The ground opens wide

And I’m swallowed inside what used to be

I’m somebody’s daughter

how can I know her

There’s a dog that lives outside

He licks his teeth and looks at me

I don’t want to feel what’s right I know what it means

Know what it means

I had a friend

He could cry on command and make Max laugh

When we were nine that’s when the time started on his epitaph

He grew up in cars

Driving between the bars and over center lines

He was a friend

I can’t comprehend the passing time

He’s somebody’s son

Everyone belongs to someone

There’s a dog that lives outside

He licks his teeth and looks at me

I don’t want to feel what’s right I know what it means

I know what it means

How can I frame putting my fathers name under a tree

That future looks grim but if I don’t lose him then he’s lost me

I’m trying to say all of the ways I fight with fate

I guess I’m just sad and there’s nothing that bad its just pretty late
